I have had 3 operations now and still have the problem. They cannot seem to get rid of the track that eventually feeds an abscess. I have learned to carefully lance my own abscesses when they occur.
When a doctor lances, it is painful beyond belief. The cost of these 3 operations (cut and burn) has caused me to try and take care of myself for now. But I know that eventually I will have to let them try again or risk the spread of more tracks which leads to more abscesses. What I wish them to do is run a monofilament line through the track, then come up with a method of looping the line and tighting the line every few days, which would gradually tear the track open and let it heal. It would be painful for awhile, but it might be worth it. As for deeper tracks around the rectum muscle this method would probably not work. To control my abscesses for awhile, I use Colloidal Silver and Campho-Phenique in liquid form. The tracks (fistulas or fissures) are simply carriers of bacteria which will cause an abscess under the skin. I remain on a diet of colloidal silver in which I make myself. After every bowel movement I clean myself with hydrogen peroxide using a spray bottle. Then I place Campho-Phenique on my finger and put it in the rectum at the start area of the track. This tends to clean and kill bacteria from a stool passing. It's not a perfect method by any means, but I get relief from an abscess for awhile. The trick I think, is to get the track(s) to close up and heal. But they can't heal if they are full of bacteria. The abscess is the end product of bacteria from the rectum. I have not been able to get mine to heal even with a seton for a drain. All the seton does, is drain the infection which is caused from bacteria. If one could come up with a method to keep the bacteria from entering the fissure or track in the rectum, I think they would heal quickly, which would solve the problem without surgery. Campho-Phenique makes a thick jell form of their product which I will try. (What do I have to lose.) I will put this in the rectum BEFORE a bowel movement which would maybe help block the fistula track opening in the rectum from bacteria. I think if we put enough thinking heads together around the world on this problem, we could come up with a method to cure this beast without surgery. If you have any thoughts or ideas on this problem, I read and appreciate all emails.
