My first experience
Anal Fistula Surgery or Fistulotomy Hello. My name is Robert. The pictures of anal abscess shown aren't pretty, but they actually pale in comparison to what I have experienced. My abscesses have been ten times the size shown in these anal abscess photos. They are very painful. The reason for this website is to inform folks of this miserable dreaded medical condition. It is simply put, a pain in the butt. There doesn't seem to be a abundance of information pertaining to anal fistula problems, so I decided to write down my experiences about this curse and let folks know that they are not alone. I awake one morning and realize a bump and soreness around the anal area of the right side of my butt. I figured it was maybe a hemorrhoidal condition being swollen which would go away in a few days with the aid of a little Preparation H. In two days I was in severe pain.
The bump had swelled ten times the original size and was extremely painful to the touch. I visited my family physician and he quickly referred me to a colon rectal doctor after informing me that I had a perirectal infection. Perirectal infection? What was that? I was soon to find out. The doctor said I had a simple abscess and that it needed to be lanced. The procedure was painful beyond belief. After calling him a few choice words, I was on my way back home feeling much better than before. The abscess drained for a few days and all was better. Within two weeks a bump occurred on the left side of my anus. In two to three days, I was in severe pain once more. This time it caught me on a weekend. The only way to get relief was to visit the emergency room at our local hospital. The physician let me know that I had a abcess which needed to be lanced. Knowing the severe pain I was about to recieve, I demanded that he give me a demeral shot before he lanced the abscess. The shot didn't help at all. The pain was awful, but the relief afterward was worth it at the time. Within two weeks, another abscess occurred on the right side of my anus again. My doctor said that I had fissures from the rectum wall into the underlying skin causing the abscess. In short, I am leaking shit through the rectum wall into the underlying skin causing the severe infections. Some doctors also call it a bridge. How did that happen I asked? Constipation is the main culprit he replied. The rectum wall gets stretched so bad from constipation that a tearing eventually occurrs causing the fissures. My operation is scheduled and the fissures are repaired and drain tubes are inserted to help heal from the inside out. Everything is fine until the tubes are removed. Within two days I am back with another abscess to be lanced. Another doctor in the same office said I needed fistula surgery again. This time they burned and cut all the tunnel fissures they could find and pronounced me cured. Everything was okay for about a month. Now I have the painful abscesses again. This is a ongoing problem with no relief in sight. I am considering alternative medicine to at least stop or slow down the abscesses. My butt looks like a butcher block as it has been cut on so many times. There appears to be no real fix for this type of problem at this time for me anyhow. If anyone else is going through this, I know your pain. I will update if anything useful happens. If you wish to share your experience or cure with this medical problem, send it to me by email and I will post it for others to see. It is lonesome and depressing to have this problem with no complete cure in sight. I am curious as to how many folks have had this problem. This could at least be a site that folks may find which would inform them about anal fistula and its many problems. Update: 7-30-09 I have had tremendous relief using colloidal silver. It has not healed the fistula, but it has kept the abscess infections to a minimum. I highly recommend colloidal silver. In fact, I now make my own.
